1997 NOVEMBER * For the second month in a row, the KSCC hosted representations of the classic Palestinian play Al Moutachael, (the Pepsimist). The monodrama stars Mohammed Bakri who adapted the Emile Habibi novel of the same name. The play is directed by Mazen Ghattas. * After requests from the public, the documentary on Palestinian novelists & poets: "Les Belles Etrangéres: Palestine" was screened for the second month in a row. * Charif Charif, head of the Antiquities department at Nazareth's municipality gave a lecture on the renovation plans of the old city of Nazareth in preparation of the Nazareth 2000 projects. * The Centre hosted a meeting between visiting French writer and essayist Danielle Sallenave, and a number of Palestinian writers. The discussion topic was Sallenave’s recent essay: "What is the Use of Literature". Sallenave was in Palestine to participate in the Bethlehem bookfair. * Peter Sulski, an American violist gave a concert with Palestinian pianist Savitana Faraouni, with a program of Bach and Rachmaninoff. * As part of the Centre’s activities marking the 50th anniversary of the Nakba, two lectures/debates were held at the Centre, with writer Salman Natour, who spoke from the view point of the Palestinian-Israeli intellectual, and poet Zakaria Mohammed, who discussed literary representations of the Nakba & the Intifada. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
