1998 DECEMBER * The Sakakini hosted the screening of the new film by Palestinian documentary director Mai Masri “Children of Shatila” on the lives of 2 children from the Palestinian refugee camp in Beyrouth, coping with the traumas and effects of the Nakba and the 1982 massacres on them and their families. Mai Masri is one of the most prominent Palestinian film directors, she has directed 9 films on children during the Intifada, Hanan Ashrawi, etc. which have obtained 14 Arab and international awards, and which have been screened on over 100 TV stations around the world. She is now producing her first feature film. * The Jerusalem Religious Chant group gave a traditional concert of Ramadan religious music and songs. The group is the oldest and most established Palestinian ensemble specializing in Sufi and devotional chant in Palestine. * A very successful exhibit by English watercolorist Elizabeth Harden
was held, featuring watercolors of the Palestinian landscape and traditional
Palestinian architecture. The show was co-organized with Riwaq, the architectural
