JANUARY
- The Sakakini hosted an exceptional representation of "Umm el Robabika",
the Emile Habibi monodrama, about a woman who remained in Haifa after the
1948 exile. The play is a new (1997) production by Jordan’s Darat
el Funoun, starring stage & TV actress Mounira Zreiqi, & was the
second directorial effort by award winning stage actress Kifah Salameh.
- ‘Oud player Samir Jubran gave a solo music recital, playing excerpts
from his new CD : Taqaseem. Jubran is a young musician from Nazareth,
who graduated with honors from Cairo’s prestigious Arab Music Institute,
and has performed in Paris, the Netherlands, and at the Palestine and
Jerash festivals.
