This months’ activities were also devoted to the Nakba: Three films
were screened: The 1998 BBC documentary with Edward Saïd “In
Search of Palestine”, the 1991 Canadian TV documentary “Canada
Park”, on the public park of the same name built with private Canadian
donations on the site of 3 Palestinian villages razed to the ground in 1967
by Israel in the Latroun area of the West Bank. A short documentary on the
unrecognized Palestinian villages inside Israel, “Not on Any Map”,
was also shown.
- Participants in the battles for the defense of Jenine also spoke of
the city’s June 1948 fall, and liberation by Arab troops.
