** FILM SCREENING & DEBATE w/ a DIRECTOR: "Frontiers
of Dreams and Fears" by Mai Masri
** DATE TO BE ANNOUNCED
Shot during the liberation of South Lebanon and the beginning of the Al
Aqsa Intifada, "Frontiers of Dreams and Fears"
accompanies two young girls on an extraordinary journey to the borders
of exile, which separate them from each other
and from their homeland. Mona (from Beirut's Shatila refugee camp) and
Manar (from Bethlehem's Dheisha camp)
begin to communicate via email and build a friendship, despite the barriers
separating them. Their remarkable
relationship culminates in their dramatic meeting at the Israeli/Lebanese
border. Through their correspondence, we
learn of their dreams and fears they share with their friends in both
camps. - Discussion with the director who is now in
Palestine, after the film.

in Jenin, Nablus, Ramallah and Tel Aviv, the film
interweaves the story of events on the ground of the massacre perpetrated
by the invading Israeli forces in the
Palestinian refugee camp of Jenin. It includes a brief account of the
historical events that led to the establishment of
Israel, & the several attempts to reach peace agreements. The documentary
includes interviews with Palestinian
academics, multi-national officials, and experts and activists from Amnesty
International.

collection "Halat Hissar", to the Khalil Sakakini Cultural Centre.
We are grateful for this honor, & will spend the funds on
publishing a book featuring drawings produced by children, their personal
