Asheikh

"Laughter is Left on the Benches". Walid's first collection
entitled "Where there are no Trees" was published by House of
Poetry. Murad Soudani will present both poets.

**ART FILM SCREENING: Andy Warhol
**WEDNESDAY 6/8 @ 8:00 PM
The first major profile of the American Pop Art cult leader after his
death in 1987 covers the whole of his life and work through interviews,
clips from his films, and conversations with his family and superstar
friends. Andy Warhol, the son of poor Czech immigrants, grew up in the
industrial slums of Pittsburgh, while dreaming of Hollywood stars. He
went on to become a star himself – the most famous and controversial
artist of modern times.
(Dir. Kim Evans, documentary, English Language, 79 min, 1992)
**ART FILM SCREENING: Monsieur René Magritte
**WEDNESDAY 13/8 @ 8:00 PM
Based on the unreality expressed in his work, Magritte surprisingly lived
a quiet life, finding expression in everyday objects. This portrait takes
viewers to his house in a small Belgian town and to other places that
fired the artist's imagination – Brussels, Paris, the casino, and
the racecourse – all familiar scenes, which he managed to portray
as new and strange. Archival film featuring conversations with Magritte
helps illuminate the work of this unique Surrealist.
(Dir. Adrian Maben, documentary, English Language, 60 min, 1978)
