**PRMIERE FILM SCREENING: "BITTER WATER" By Dir. Maysoon Pachachi
**WEDNESDAY 2/7 @ 8:00 PM

"Bitter Water" is a documentary film portrait of Bourj Il Barajneh Palestinian refugee camp in Beirut. The 20,000 people who live there feel they have been forgotten by the rest of the world. Four generations live in a limbo of crowded alleyways under masses of electrical wires. The connection to a past in Palestine is fraying, the vision of a viable future is dim and one present is all but unlivable. But people continue to sustain each other and to survive, their conversation turning in an instant form joy to grief, from bitterness to humor.

**MONDAY 7/7 @ 7:00 PM

Mohammad Joha’s paintings exhibit his fascination with how children represent themselves, their feelings and their surroundings. The artist endeavors to return a period of naiveté. There is an overwhelming sense of melancholy and sadness in these portraits of children for whom it appears that innocence has been lost.
Hazem Harb presents his contemplation, on an everyday object from his immediate surroundings: a flower pot of herbs. The artist suggests that items that we often forget to acknowledge can become a source of inspiration in when we rediscover their inherent qualities. Both artists explore avenues towards abstraction. Mohammad Joha takes the route of returning to representations of children, while Hazem Harb chooses the genre of still life.
