Activities MAY PROGRAM **OPENING OF EXHIBIT: "IN THEIR MEMORY" @ AL-QAMARIYA GALLERY - Birzeit University **WEDNESDAY 30/4 @ 10:00 AM This exhibit is of four quilts that are made up of 156 embroideries pieces that have been made by the mothers of Palestinian Shuhada who died in Al-Aqsa Intifada. A poster will accompany the exhibit which includes pictures, a short biography for each Shaheed and the works of embroidery. We encourage all Birzeit students and staff to come and participate in this exhibit. **The exhibit will remain until the 12th of May. **NCM CONCERT: LAMIS AUDEH - Soloist Pianist **SATURDAY 3/5 @ 7:00 pm The National Conservatory of Music proudly presents the pianist Lamis Audeh, who will perform a variety of classical compositions on the piano for famous composers such as Bach, Rachmaninoff, Brahms, Schumann, & Chopin. Lamees Audeh enjoys performing as a means of expression because it gives her the opportunity to share her feelings with others in a very intense yet subtle way. **TICKET PRICE: 15 NIS Adults, 10 NIS Students, 5 NIS NCM Students **CHILDREN’S ACTIVITY: “COLORING EGGS & EGG HUNT!” **SUNDAY 4/5 @ 4:00 PM To celebrate Easter, we have arranged an activity for the children where they are provided with eggs and all the necessary supplies to make these eggs as colorful as can be! Gifts, games and of course the traditional egg hunt will be arranged for the kids! This activity is sponsored by the young Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashed Bin Khalifa Al Maktoum. **NCM CONCERT: “Scent of Stone” Performed by Tania Nasser & Nadia Aboushi **SATURDAY 10/5 @ 7:00 PM The Soprano Tania Tamari Nasser will perform songs that were written by Amin Nasser and will be accompanied by Nadia Aboushi on the piano. **TICKET PRICE: 15 NIS Adults, 10 NIS Students, 5 NIS NCM Students The Sakakini dedicates the following two activities for the passing of the 55th anniversary of Al Nakba: **EXHIBIT: “INK ON PAPER” ARTIST NABIL ANANI **WEDNESDAY 14/5 @ 6:00 PM The artworks that have been created for this exhibit are impressions invoked on the artist during the reoccupation and siege of Ramallah last April, which he made with whatever ink he found in that period. They are visual creations that express the pain that was inflict by the Israeli occupational machine on humans and stone, which all became engraved in the memory of the artist. And the Oslo accords that have only become Ink on paper… **Exhibit opens daily from 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM until the end of the month. **FILM SCREENINGS: “Crossing Kalandia” & “Palestine for Dummies” By SOBHI AL ZUBEIDI **THURSDAY 15/5 @ 7:00 PM Crossing Kalandia: This film chronicles the destruction caused by the reoccupation of Ramallah in April 2002 and still manages to stifle the nostalgic sense of deprivation and loss, which the memory of Al Nakba entails. (Dir. Sobhi Al Zubeidi, documentary, Arabic Lang. -Eng. Subtitles, 52 min., 2002) Palestine for Dummies: An experimental movie in which the director creates a monotony from black and white pictures from Al Nakba and written scrolls of UN regulations, that all create a sense of how this Palestine is for dummies.. Sobhi Al-Zubeidi, experimental, English language, 16 min, 2003) **NCM CONCERT: Sheikh Imam Ensemble **SATURDAY 17/5 @ 7:00 PM A group of talented musicians which are Ibrahim Atari on Qanoun, Samer Totah on Oud & Youssef Zayed on Percussion will team up with a group of young singers (Isam An Natsheh, Reem Omar, George Ghattas, Suha Il Mathbouh, Dana Awwad & Mansour Al Barghouthi) to create this reminiscent performance of songs for Sheikh Imam. **TICKET PRICE: 15 NIS Adults, 10 NIS Students, 5 NIS NCM Students **NCM CONCERT: ORIENTAL MUSIC ENSEMBLE **SATURDAY 24/5 @ 7:00 PM The Oriental Music Ensemble will present a unique oriental performance on Tarab instruments, such as the oud and percussion. **TICKET PRICE: 15 NIS Adults, 10 NIS Students, 5 NIS NCM Students **ART FILM SCREENING: “Botticelli: The Humanist Trilogy” **WEDNESDAY 28/5 @ 7:00 PM Botticelli was one of the leading painters of the Florentine Renaissance. He developed a highly personal style characterized by elegance of execution, a sense of melancholy, and a strong emphasis on line. This program examines three of Botticelli’s most famous masterpieces, Primavera, Pallas & the Centaur and the Birth of Venus.
