
The Artist:
Issam Bader was born in 1948 in Hebron. He graduated from the
Baghdad Fine Arts Academy, and received his Masters in Ceramics from
the Tbilisi Academy of Fine Arts in Georgia. He has held 10 personal
exhibits, and participated in a number of group exhibits in Palestine,
Cairo, and Tokyo. He founded the Gallery 79 in Ramallah, which was a
center of cultural activities and a showcase of Palestinian art in the
80’s till it was closed down by the Israeli military authorities.
Issam Bader passed away, November 2003 in Ramallah.
His
work:
Bader’s earlier works consisted of mostly ceramic individual
works and oil paintings, although he did execute a giant bronze
mural adorning the façade of the Ramallah municipality.
Most recently he has been busy providing mural works for private
homes and commissions for public buildings such as The Grand
Park Hotel and the Al-Ayyam daily Newspaper in Ramallah.
